Another bishop said that in his diocese he will never have to deal with gay marriage. I told him, you don’t know where this is going. Gay marriage could go to the Supreme Court, it could become the law of the land. Maybe part of your responsibility is to get your people ready for where the country is going.(Emphasis mine A/O)
-V. Gene Robinson Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire

An interesting concept of a bishop's duty, to lead your people into conformity with society's evolving standards. In very few words this says so much about the Episcopal Church.
The problem is not gay marriage. I don't know of any countries that have had laws that have stopped gay people from marrying, though many of them might not have had the inclination.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is not gay marriage, but homosexual marriage. And in this country homosexual marriage is the law of the land, and my bishop asked me to prepare a paper to get people ready for where the country was going, and I've put it in my blog here:The theology of Christian marriage - Khanya.
There's nothing even remotely Christian about that perspective. But at least the honesty is refreshing.
ReplyDeleteRevolting. I've been stunned by how openly the ECUSA Left (sorry to be redundant) has been admitting this at General Convention: that we have to kneel to the culture. This is practically an admission that they long to bow their heads to Baal.
ReplyDeleteThe true shame is that the Reasserters (those who reassert the authority of Scripture vs the Revisionists who reinterpret it) gave ground and allowed the "gay" issue to become "the" issue. The fact of the matter is that this has provided cover for very wide spread heresy and breakdown of discipline and order. From the perspective of working theology, the Episcopal denomination does not recognize Jesus as the Christ, the unique Savior of the world. Many of them deny they physical reality of the Resurrection. They also believe that salvation can be achieved through works without Faith. They are a real mess!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the South, and I can guarantee you there will be a massive revolt if the Supreme Court ever tried to force Southern states to accept out of state Gay Marriages.
ReplyDelete"Where the country is going..."?!
ReplyDeleteRobinson's cohort is in demographic free-fall. Nobody is going to be spouting this kind of nonsense in 25 years.
