Yale University bans images of Muhammad.
Why is Islam the only religious group that is off limits to satire? Never mind. I already know the answer to that question. When people display a crucifix in a jar of urine or cover an image of the Holy Theotokos with fecal matter in a museum and label it art, Christians don't riot and set off bombs.
As a freedom-loving American who believes free speech to be our greatest gift and right...this is sickening. It makes me want to draw him in embarrassing situations and post it on my blog.
ReplyDeleteAs a Christian, however, I rejoice in this news, in a way. Christ's image is ever abused as His Body was, to His glory and our salvation. That He is lower than Muhammad in the world's eyes simply affirms that He is our humiliated God who came to serve. Let them pour on scorn, for it is good for our salvation.
Of course...I can say this being far, far, away from Yale. Were it to come closer to home for me...God help me.
Peace.
And -- can you imagine the public uproar if anyone should ever put a Star of David in a jar of urine or cover it with feces?
ReplyDelete(This comment is from Samn! For reasons unknown blogger ate it. So I am reposting it from my email notification.)
ReplyDeleteThis is ironic, since there is a carved image of muhammad over the interest of yale's sterling library... as part of a series of images of primitive literature-givers.
Its because if you criticize Orthodoxy, Catholicism, or Christianity in general its no big deal.
ReplyDeleteWe won't kill you...
Islam on the other hand tends to get its collective panties in a wad if you criticize the "the prophet" and they have been known to leave bodies, burned out cars..
