The best team in major league baseball by a mile... is the smoking hot Washington Nationals with a record of 14-4 (.778)! I heard someone on the radio saying that the last time a major league ball club from Washington started off this hot was back when they were the Senators, and Herbert Hoover was president.
The Nationals were pretty smooth in the off season, very quietly assembling a phenomenal pitching staff and other pieces. They let the Phillies simmer in their post-season meltdown and largely hid behind the Braves complete off season do nothing to your roster line up. I don't know how they so smoothly and quietly assembled so good a team, but so far they've pulled it off.
