Well, it is sort of like debating the benefits of a return to monarchy, or an investigation into who faked the moon landing, etc.Whether one agrees with fractional reserve banking and fiat money, it's accepted everywhere as the standard except on the fringes.Sometimes the fringe has been right. Most often the fringe is wrong.Not so long ago the Republicans would have walked out, too.
