Send in the clowns
Multiple sources are reporting that Piero Marini is about to be named as head of the Vatican's Congregation for Divine Worship (CDW). This is the department that is supposed to handle all things liturgical. For those of you who don't know who Marini is, just take my word that this is really bad news for the Catholic Church.
Marini is already nearly 72 years old. Isn't he required to retire at age 75? If he's appointed, at least he won't have the spot for long.
ReplyDeleteGroan.
ReplyDeleteI figured that was coming when I heard that PM was one of the first called to visit the new Pope. The Roman Church is beginning to look like a liturgical ping pong game. Well at least Rod Dreher has come to his senses and is returning to Holy Orthodoxy.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss something? Rod Dreher went Orthodox several years ago. If he went back t Rome I never heard about it.
ReplyDeleteIf he went back t Rome I never heard about it.
ReplyDeleteHe hasn't left Orthodoxy since converting. He was an admirer of Benedict XVI, and he was very upset about Metropolitan Jonah's ouster, but he's been Orthodox through it all.
John,
ReplyDeleteYou might want to read the comboxes of the following posts

Regardless of what you think of Rod Dreher the comboxes only prove that the harshest anti-Orthodox bigotry is alive and well among Catholics.
Is one of these sources the gossipy "Messa in Latino" blog that also reported that Guido Marini was due to be sacked within days of the papal election?
ReplyDeleteSorry I wrote before I thought, with reference to dear Rod.
