Obama welcomes Pope Francis' remarks on gays, abortion

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Wednesday welcomed Pope Francis' recent remarks that the Catholic Church must shake off an obsession with teachings on abortion, contraception and homosexuals, saying the pontiff was showing incredible humility.

"I tell you, I have been hugely impressed with the pope's pronouncements," Obama said in a CNBC interview.

  1. What an endorsement, from one who loves to divide the Christian consciences in order to attain his socialistic philosophy. The Pope may be many thing, prudent is not one of strengths. So much for centralized authority in the modern world.

  2. You know, I try to read Francis as charitably as I can. But somehow, every time I read his off-the-cuff remarks, I'm reminded on the interview part of a Miss America pageant.
