I do not really disagree with anything specific that Prof. Golstein says about the situation of Russians and Russian-speakers in Ukraine, but I cannot agree that the US media are uniformly presenting an anti-Russian slant. Almost everything I know about the Russia/Ukraine situation I get from reading the NY Times, and I definitely have not come away from that reading with the impression that the pro-Kiev faction is especially pure or noble. I do not watch television news, so I do not know how the situation is being covered there, but I think that NPR and the various national print outlets (NYT & WaPo) have presented a fairly balanced picture.
