Quote of the day...

"This may sound pompous, but I would rather die standing than live on my knees."

  1. More like a martyr to degeneracy.

This magazine's staff blasphemed Islam and Christianity alike and constantly ridiculed the Paris police, two of whose members were killed attempting to protect them. They also hate and ridicule Houllebecq, and I assume they don't think highly of the prophetic Jean Raspail either.

Will any of these lunatic socialists draw the obvious conclusions: that Islam is incompatible with Western ideals; that welfare subsidizes violent, unassimilable, r-selected populations; that open borders means the death of liberal society?

  2. John,

Have you seen the anti-Christian filth this magazine produced?

I won't link to it, but just do a search, and you'll find it easily enough.

I'm afraid this is the equivalent of responding back when Larry Flynt was shot for printing inter-racial porn with "I am Hustler."

  3. I think there is a misunderstanding here. I am not endorsing what they wrote. I am affirming their right to say or print things, even and perhaps especially, offensive things. This was an assault on freedom of expression.

  4. The issue is not defending Charlie, but condemning cold blooded murder over offensive speech.

  5. France has several laws prohibiting certain kinds of speech. France is also the land where the repulsive "Piss Christ" was destroyed by Catholic youth. This is less a matter of libertarian principle than the more pedestrian matter of whose taboos get enforced.
