These moralizing busybodies are the reason the Navy is dry today. Wilson's Secretary of the Navy was one of them and the very first order he issued on taking office was to stop the daily issue of rum and ban spirits of any kind from naval ships and bases. That policy has been very slightly relaxed on bases, but not ships. US naval ships remain the last bastion of prohibition.

Which is why our sailors love to get an invitation to have dinner about one of Her Majesty's. A good time is had by all.
