Anyone else got the same lottery numbers?

Yeah, I dropped $2.00 on it.

  1. I always say that the lottery is a tax on people that never took statistics.

  2. Indeed. I occasionally drop a couple of bucks for a ticket which I can justify as cheap entertainment. A movie will run you a lot more and typically only lasts around two hours. But spending more than that does suggest a belief that you are somehow improving your odds in a meaningful manner which is not possible w/o spending millions. All of which said, I wish happiness to the winner and hope they will remain level headed and charitable in their sudden ascension to the ranks of the ultra-wealthy.

  3. Sorry, but I take issue with a society that have decided to fund the education of their children by preying on the people who can least afford it. And, it often turns out badly for that sort when they do win.

  4. When I was in college (Wheaton, no less) we used to go to the store, spend a dollar and then "play" the lottery game. The rule was that we had to spend whatever we made. It was a fun evening of breaking the Wheaton Pledge without drinking or dancing.
... of course the debate was what we would do if we hit it big.

  5. I figured that, if God wanted to make me rich, I should at least give HIm an easy way to do it.

Apparently I've got enough obstacles to entering the Kingdom of Heaven and was spared that one.
