The Second Vatican Council was an unmitigated disaster and it is becoming increasingly difficult to pretend that the modern Catholic Church is the same in faith, praxis and spirit to that which existed before 1965.
From here.
P.S. Pope Francis has been invited by Kim Jong Un to visit North Korea. I doubt even Francis is that far gone. But the mere fact of the invitation speaks volumes.
Yet another blistering attack on the Second Vatican Council with not a single citation to a single word. A lotta bad bishops and cardinals--as if the history of the Church were not replete with them.
ReplyDeleteIncreasingly I think the problem for self-styled traditionalists is not so much Vatican II as Vatican I.
Being Orthodox, I'm not gonna be the guy to defend Vatican I.
ReplyDeleteI’m sure I should have said Catholic traditionalists. 🙂
ReplyDeleteI grew up around mostly Southern Baptists, who rarely had anything good to say about popes. But they were downright respectful compared to the contempt that seems heaped on popes by Catholic traditionalists, at least those on the web.
You do realize the Moscow Patriarchate not only has visited North Korea but has a Potemkin church in Pyongyang?
ReplyDeleteIt became much clearer when I realized the problem was bureacracy, or perhaps more specifically, the bureaucratic mindset. Subsequently, I could see the revolutionary period was when most of the remaining nobility was removed. The new leaders were either outright bureaucrats or nobles taught to think that way. So the 'system' becomes a god, and decision making is subject to the system, rather than taking one's role as a decision maker seriously and feeling responsible to God, as well as the people who are going to have to deal with the consequences of the decision.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Vatican I is basically 'right-wing' bureaucrats. They had memories of the past and were nostalgic for it, but they did not have the mental framework. Vatican II is later in the disease state, with left-wing bureaucrats and/or people basically happy with bureaucracy. And now this pope and so many others who appear to do nothing except what the progressives want, except they brand it as Christian.
Yes, I am aware of Kirill's visit, which was disgraceful.
