They are the new 99 percenters — the vast majority of Americans who are getting serious cases of COVID-19 or dying are unvaccinated.
While COVID-19 cases continue to spike across the US, the overwhelming majority of deaths and hospitalizations from the virus continue to overwhelmingly be among unvaccinated Americans, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Between Jan. 1 and Aug. 30, about 99 percent of hospital admissions were among those who hadn’t been fully inoculated, which is defined by the CDC as two weeks after the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna shot or two weeks after Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose jab.
As of Aug. 30, a little over 1.6 million Americans were hospitalized with COVID-19 — but only about 0.65 percent of them, or 10,471 patients, were fully vaccinated, the CDC data show.

The vaccine is not a guarantee against hospitalization or death, and its effects wear off after 5 to 8 months, even sooner in the immuno-compromised and elderly, whose immune systems are in terminal decline. Regardless of what you think of the vaccine's efficacy (which has been repeatedly downgraded), you are not going to get a majority of the population dosed twice a year for life.
ReplyDeleteIf the vaccine is actually "leaky," we are committing a grave error.
I took the vaccine because I wanted to. I was even willing to volunteer to participate in trials for the good of mankind & my country. But, to set one segment of the population against another over vaccines is unforgivable.
ReplyDeleteWe need to be rid of this clown currently occupying the White House. How the people were duped into voting for a man who spent 50 years demonstrating hs stupidity is beyond me. We can thank James Clyburn for pulling that man's failed candidacy out of the ashes. And then George Bush thanked Clyburn for doing it. God help us all.
