Something similar is going on back here in Sweden; recently the Swedish Riksdag (parliament?) allowed the swedish police to "eavesdrop" on all phones they wish, and to read any e-mail they wish; even if this has been allowed only to "fight the bad guys" - who knows what they might use it for in the future...if someday there would be a persecution of christians (however unbelievable that might be) this could be a dangerous weapon...
