Ecumenical Patriarch Excommunicates "Vassula" Ryden and Her Followers

The Orthodox Church, following strictly the shining example and teaching of the Holy Apostles, the teaching of the Fathers of the Church who have their succession, and the divinely-inspired decisions of the Ecumenical Synods, safeguards as a pearl of great price the faith of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church which the Christian plenitude experiences through their participation in the Sacraments and entire spiritual life of the divinely-founded ecclesiastical body.

Hence, whatever movement and improvised tension, personal or collective, in contempt or in breach of the dogmas of the Orthodox Christian faith and life in Christ within the Church as the only path for the salvation of our souls, all the more the self-proclaimed "supposedly charismatic" personality, is rejected always as an unacceptable innovation.

In this spirit, and for the beneficial protection of our pious Orthodox plenitude from dangerous spiritual confusion, who do not know well matters underlying the risk of delusion, rejects from the Mother Church Vasiliki Paraskevis Pentaki - Ryden, widely known as a "Vassula", and her organization founded under the title "True Life In God" which rashly and frivolously proposes teachings based on the supposed "direct dialogue between her and the Founder of the Church Jesus Christ our Lord", and those conquered by her and the supporters of "True Life In God", which deviate arbitrarily from the God-given teaching of the Church, but also scandalize the Orthodox phronema of pious believers.

Hence, we call upon the proponents of these unacceptable innovations and the supporters who maintain them, who henceforth are not admitted to ecclesiastical communion, not only to not be involved in the pastoral work of the local Holy Metropolis, but also to not preach their novel teachings, to prevent the appropriate sanctions under the Holy Canons.

Hat Tip: Carlos Antonio Palad of Rorate Caeli

While the EP is not the Orthodox Pope, he is the First Hierarch of the Church. When he speaks with this kind of language his words carry great weight. My guess is that this will put pressure on the Patriarchate of Alexandria, which has tolerated this woman's heretical nonsense for far too long to deal with her. She has now been formally or informally barred from communion by most of the canonical Orthodox churches.

Thank you John. I am a Roman Catholic and I am appalled at the Roman Catholic priests and laity who promote the 'work' of Vassula Ryden as though it were genuinely from God. There is a very good website which exposes the problems with Vassula - http://www.infovassula.ch/tlighome.html

I'm afraid that I simply cannot take this seriously.

Perhaps when the Patriarch of Constantinople is in a position to speak of "following strictly the shining example and teaching of the Holy Apostles, the teaching of the Fathers of the Church who have their succession, and the divinely-inspired decisions of the Ecumenical Synods" and safeguarding "as a pearl of great price the faith of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church", then things will be different. Until then, it appears to me as little more than a joke, and a sad and upsetting one at that.

At last!

The Patriarche of Contantinople is a very courageous
man! He takes the good decision to excomuniate
Ms Ryden.
I hope that Pope Benoît XVI will be inform of that
and send a serious "notification" to Mrs Ryden, to
stop for ever the business of "true life in God" and her false prophet!

A excellent website to understand everything about
the "system Vassula is:

I hope those who condemn Mrs Vassula Ryden are experts in Mystical Theology, and have for many years prayed daily for at least two hours and fasted one or two days every week on bread and water. Then they will be in a fit position to judge her: otherwise they should keep silent.

They are the bishops and hierarchs of God's Church. It is their duty to protect the faithful from heresy, irrespective of their personal habits. No one is worthy of judging others save God. But at times it must be done.

Seraphim,
you are a "provocateur"!

Do you believe Vassula, when she tells a story in a message with Jesus:

She was writing a message given by Jesus in her bedroom, when she remembers she cooked something in an oven .She said to Jesus: I think that is burning! And Jesus says: Okay go together and stops the oven!!

Do you really think that story comes from Jesus?

Another one, she is travelling by bus with Jesus and at the control-
ticket she said to Jesus: we are two and we got one ticket!

Do you believed this story comes from Jesus? What a shame!

Vassula is NOT A MYSTIC, nobody can believed in that sort of story!

She blasphems and their writings are "Heretics"

Believe in the Hierarchs of God Church and The Patriarchate greek of Constantinople, the Pope Benoît XVI ( read the notification of the Cardinal Levada january 2007)

Vassula Ryden was married, then divorced, the great Mystics are religious like:

Sainte Thérèse D'Avila (she reformed the Carmel)

Sainte Elisabeth de la Trinité

Sainte Thérèse de Lisieux

Alexandre MEN

Bernadette Soubirous

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Read the Bible!

God Bless you!
