True Christians do not support any form of war.Read John 13:35. Such love reaches across racial, social, and national boundaries, drawing people together in genuine brotherhood. So strong is this love that it sets them apart as been truly different. When nations go to war, who have enough love for their Christian brothers in other lands that the refuse to take up arms and kill them? That is what early Christians did.
Neither God nor the Bible when read in context command pacifism. Read Romans chapter 13. Also take note that throughout scripture Jesus when speaking with sinners while forgiving them also tells them to amend their lives. When he meets the prostitutes he forgave them, but also told them they needed to get another job. Yet he never suggested that the Roman Centurion (an officer in the army) needed to get another line of work. Also the Old Testament is filled with commands to violence and war. Some criminal offenses are expressly made capital. Your post would seem to suggest a complete disconnect between the Old Testament and the New.
Also the Church did not require pacifism. Read the writings of the saints and especially blessed Augustine on the subject.
