Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Bishop: "It might be time to leave"

- Coptic Christian Bishop Paul of Tanta will tell Copts to leave Egypt if the Church is not guaranteed religious jurisdiction. Bishop Paul, a representative of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the Constituent Assembly, is also threatening to leave the Assembly if Article II is not modified to his liking.

  1. As terrifying and painful as this must be for the Christians suffering through it, we must also have faith that God will use this too as a way to grow His Church. Persecutions, diasporas, and tyranny have historically resulted in the spread of faith far and wide. Just look at the spread of Orthodoxy through Europe and the West since the fall of Communism in the Eastern Bloc. Now we have the Russian Orthodox working with the Catholics to "re-christianize" Europe. I always think of Joseph being sold into slavery in Egypt and how God used something evil and turned it into something good and glorifying. Of course, it should be our job to support the Copts and all persecuted Christians and help make their transition easier.
