You ought to be thanking God, not "OM"ing Him.
Indeed, Iannes. Starting with President Trump's first SCOTUS appointment.
AG: As delighted as I am that HRC has been barred re-entry to the White House, I do not share your optimism w/r/t Trump and SCOTUS. What exactly do you see in former abortion proponent Trump that makes you think he will not nominate wishy-washy corporate shills like John Roberts to the SC?
Yes, the SCOTUS is the undeniable silver lining in this. While I had trembled at the prospect of a Clinton presidency, by yesterday I had psychologically braced myself for that result. Like most Americans, including I suspect more than a few of Trump's own supporters, I did not expect him to win. Last night was the greatest upset in American political history and I was glued to the TV until around 4:30 this morning.
Again, I have yet to see any evidence for how the up-unitl-recently "pro-choice" Trump would nominate better SCOTUS justices, but I would be more than happy to be proved wrong.
For me, the silver linings are: no bolt to war with Russia, less foreign interventions and no TPP-- all of them very palpable positives if Señor Trump follows through on his campaign promises.
They will be miles better than Queen Hill's would have.
The head of investments of a large global corporation noted the markets would react positively to Clinton and negatively to Trump, even though the latter has more 'business friendly' policies. The reason for the negative reaction to Trump has to do with his unpredictability, which will drive uncertainty and volatility in the markets here and abroad. It's not so much what his policies are as to what policies he has neither we nor he knows about yet, and whether he can keep himself under control.
No one was rushing to war with Russia but everyone wants to see Russia respect its neighbors' borders (and our own election process), Obama is at the same time from both Left and Right criticized for doing too much and too little foreign intervention, and trade deals have always been as much or more about foreign policy as anything else (economically, they are a wash with winners and losers, but they are cheaper than war).
Repentance is possible for all people. Trump entered the race knowing he could do a better job than anyone our establishment was putting up. However, over the course of the race he was touched by the religious-sensitive demographic that wanted to give him a chance. Trump repaid in kind by making Pence his VP. From what I hear, he has drawn closer to God as a result of this event in his life. While I'm not a fan of Trump's past nor Evangelicals for that matter, Trump knows what direction is right and shows so much potential to do for Christianity what Reagan was not even capable of doing.
@123
"Economically [trade deals] are a wash with winners and losers".
Let me translate, the winners are a very few number of already very rich people and the losers are the vast majority of the population who sees their jobs shipped overseas. For example, NAFTA had the effect of vastly increasing the wealth gap in all three signatory countries: http://www.epi.org/publication/briefingpapers_bp147/
"No one was rushing to war with Russia"
HRC had proposed a no fly zone for Syria. The most dominant air force in Syria right now is the Russian air force. Putin has stated clearly that he would consider the downing of any of their planes to be an act of war. You do the math. And this is without mentioning that HRC materially supported a coup in Ukraine and was a moving force behind the US parking nuclear weapons in Poland and South Korea. You are therefore completely wrong: HRC was rushing headlong towards war with Russia; the world is safer without her in the White House.
