He was baptized Orthodox at the old St. Mary Romanian Orthodox church in Cleveland. His mother was Romanian. His accent in the character he played,"Mr. Tudball", was probably based on his mother's accent in English. The funny vowels in that accent suggest that his mother also knew Hungarian, not unusual for Romanians from Transylvania who built that church.
