Vice President Biden's Emotional Memorial Day Speech (Wow!)

Never thought I'd be posting a speech by Joe Biden on here but this was very powerful.

What an unsympathetic audience: why did they keep laughing? He was speaking from the heart and making no jokes. I simply don't understand why anyone would react with laughter to what he was saying. It made me cross to hear them and I am full of even greater admiration that he showed no sign of irritation.

CG: I think they expect Biden to be a buffoon so they can't cope with him being heartfelt and serious.

I am pretty sure they were Gold Star Mothers and family of fallen servicemen. Their laughter was from understanding what he was talking about and the realization that few others could understand. I don't think it was in any way disrespectful, though I can see why you might have thought otherwise.

After viewing that video I am unable to dislike the man as I did previously. The suggestion toward the end, of scoring the days, is brilliant. Wish I had known the technique a few decades back.

That was pretty powerful. I was just frozen in place watching. I know there are many who would scoff that I could relate in any way, but so much of what he said resonated perfectly. (Agree on the laughing, John. I didn't have more than one or two urges to laugh, but I had them too. It's kind of a gallows humor.)

What wonderful advice given by someone who has experienced the sorrow of losing loved ones.
The laughter was perfect because it was interspersed at the right moments...showing human emotion.
