THE FIRST annual general meeting of the Association of Catholic Priests was told last night that if people had a vote on such matters church leaders would be swept out of office.Read the rest here.
If Irish Catholics had a democratic way of reflecting their feelings “church leaders would suffer a defeat as cataclysmic as that administered to Fianna Fáil in the recent general election”, Fr Kevin Hegarty said.
What was needed was a church which would open its doors to “married priests and women priests”. It would benefit from secular insights like, for example, on human intimacy and democracy, he said. It would work at developing a “healthy and holistic theology of sexuality”.
Fr. Hegarty, in case you missed the bulletin the "church" you long for already exists. Go check out the Anglicans.

With the exception of the part about married priests, this claptrap sounds like it came straight from the "progressive" movement in the OCA.
Don't think they aren't coming for us.
Christianity already has a "healthy and holistic theology of sexuality." This is little more than a clarion call to embrace a dysfunctional and dis-integrated anthropology of sexuality.
John is right - the Anglicans have already pioneered the promised land of this mentality. Just look at how they prosper!
"For so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son--and not some committee."
This is typical 60s stuff. Scholastic theology has come a long way since the 60s.
A new book coming out on priests says younger priests support celibacy and the male priesthood, but older ones don't.
Surprise?
As a younger Catholic I support the Latin Mass, but also support those priests who compose hip-hop.
We might be different culturally, but share the same views on faith and morals.
It's a waste of time fighting over whether chanting is better than clapping.
They can BOTH be used for the glory of God.
