Many years to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the 60th anniversary of Her accession to the throne. And may She with the the people of Great Britain and all the Royal Dominions enjoy a triumphal Diamond Jubilee. Click here for a brief but very well done video tribute.

Thanks for posting this, John. Particularly enjoyed hearing the little sung verse of God Save The Queen which begins, O Lord our God arise, Scatter her enemies...."

Indeed, God save The Queen and long may she reign!

Bill,
I watched the video just to hear the moment in the anthem you spoke of, and now I'm wondering...
Who thinks it's a coincidence that the passage about the Lord scattering her enemies and making them fall is coupled with images of Diana and the divorce? I must say, if the maker of the video tribute did that deliberately, it was a ballsy move.
I tend to side with the royal family more than with the Diana fanatics in regards to the issues surrounding the handling of the divorce and Diana's untimely death, and I suspect many of a monarchist stripe do as well. But I question the judgment behind suggesting Diana was an enemy scattered, if indeed that's what was intended.
Just my thoughts. In any case, many years to Her Majesty, and long may she (continue to) reign.
sjgmore, an interesting thought. I think some have indeed tried to use the whole Diana thing against the Royal Family. I read somewhere that that verse has been long suppressed as terribly un-PC. The maker of the video is unknown to me. Bill, tGf
Quite fitting to place this entry right above Saint Alexander Schmorell.
The Cult of Celebrity has replaced the traditional cult of the Saint. Whereas St. Alexander is glorified based on word and deed, the royal celebrity is a product of images and accolades from sycophants. I do not wish Elizabeth ill, but I'm certain kudos are not in order here.
Lady Diana, whom the Queen would not allow be called "Her Royal Highness," was dubbed the "Princess of Sales" and was also a celebrity cult product. Perhaps she'd be alive today if she's gone gently into that good night and hitched herself to another Lodge brother rather than an Egyptian tycoon. Lord have mercy on us all.
