Obama retreats (slightly) on contraception mandate

Seeking to allay the concerns of Catholic leaders and head off an escalating political storm, President Obama on Friday announced an adjustment to the administration’s health-care rule requiring religiously affiliated employers to provide contraceptive coverage to women.

Women still will be guaranteed coverage for contraceptive services without any out-of-pocket cost, but will have to seek the coverage directly from their insurance companies if their employers object to birth control on religious grounds.

This sounds like a fudge to me. I am not sure anything has substantively changed. I will have read into this more closely.

Sounds to me like a case having his cake and eating it too. He tells people what they want to hear and then the day after the election he goes back to the status quo.

Nothing has functionally changed. All he did was blow some smoke, while eliminating the exception for churches.

He just played with words, telling people that the insurance company and not the church pays for things.

Who does the think has to buy insurance coverage in the first place?

That's right, all insurers, so now all Americans are paying for this.

This administration is dangerous.
