I guess I have to ask. Even though Russia is a secular democracy now and well removed from the virulently anti-royalist days of Communism, why would someone who claims the throne of Russia be allowed to enter the country? I would think that returning would seem an unwelcome political act. So a lot must have changed there in this regard, I gather. I would be very interested to know how it call came about. However, if I was a Romanov, I would definitely be leery of going back even if rationally there was no reason to fear. Its not like they weren't forced out under the worst circumstances. To be the first Romanov to return, who ever that may have been, must have been nerve-racking experience.
