But it's not. Rather than rely on hearsay, talk to canon lawyers and tribunals and you will see how seriously they take their work. They would suggest that the increase in the number of annulments is due in large part to in appropriate marriage preparation. Many annulments are granted to Catholics who had chosen, for one reason or another, to marry outside of the Church without dispensation to do so. There are many factors to consider.
