From the you can't make this up file...

Like most churches, St. Mark's Church in the Bowery holds Christian services in its sanctuary every Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Unlike most churches, on the last Sunday in June, the Episcopal church hangs the disco ball, turns up the music and invites a disco diva to lead their music ministry for the annual Gay Pride Disco Mass.

Known for its commitment to the arts, poetry theatre and dance space, St. Mark's in the Bowery is a fixture in New York City's East Village. It is also one of New York's most historic churches -- its cornerstone was put down in 1795.

To my Episcopalian readers, I know I've said it before. And yes, I can be annoying in my habit of repeating important points. To wit... GET OUT! NOW!

Hard to tell from the camera angle, but based on the priest and the recessional, it looked like the church was packed (NOT). I searched for information on how many people were there and found that the attached video was from 2010. Any figures on how many people attended this year?

Thankfully there are some Episcopalians who steer as far as possible from such gay goings on (gay as in "happy").

I would highly recommend visiting the website of the Church of the Resurrection in New York City.

All other things taken into account, Dutch Touch and all that, it is well worth the look. It is a lovely place, very atypical of may churches in the ECUSA.

Not to disparage Mrs. Jefferts-Schori, but she will not likely be visiting this parish, not only because she would probably not be caught dead there, but because she would not be invited.
