Metropolitan Philip sacks another priest

From OCANews via Byzantine Texas comes the report that Metropolitan Philip has suspended Fr. Elias Yelovich, of the Antiochian St. James Mission in Westminster, MD for criticizing the Metropolitan's recent actions. He is also barred from all churches of the Archdiocese.

+Philip is losing it. As for +Thomas, I'd post what I heard a much respected archimandrite say about him but it would violate your board rules.

+Philip could have gone on to a dignified retirement with the grateful blessings of the Archdiocese. Like a lot of aging despots, he hung on to long and cast his lot with a group of not-quite-Arab, not-really-Americans who are stuck in 1971.

The parishes will keep their heads down and wait this sick old man out. The next Metropolitan will be +Joseph or +Basil and the Detroit-Toledo crowd will not be happy. They will go back into schism and the rest of the Archdiocese will shake their dust from their feet.

If I were that old, I wouldn't be playing Arabic roulette with my soul...

+Phillip needs to "try for some repentance"...

I am a complete outsider to this debate and realize it's all rather complex. However, I would like to say that this would be strange, even in Rome where the bishop has quite a bit of power that he plainly just doesn't use.
