In a remarkably quick turn from the recent “unity, unity” rhetoric, a
notable group of liberal United Methodists leaders, from Alaska to
Florida to Germany, has declared in no uncertain terms that they
“cannot” remain in the same church with Christians who support the
traditional standards of the United Methodist Book of Discipline.
And they are apparently not sure whether or not they can continue to
tolerate the presence of Methodists who have not yet settled what they
believe about matters related to homosexuality and transgenderism.

I did tell you that they never give up.
It's always about unity when their side is winning because then they can use that unity to force the others into compliance. But when they are other side, "we have to leave." The hypocrisy on display is staggering to say the least.
This is actually rather new. The "progressive" side insisting they will leave (perhaps). It's worth remembering how narrow was the vote in this case. Any time you even have to "vote" on an issue like that it's a loss. Methodists will continue to do whatever they like without the official blessing. The liberals will wear them down, they're just a few years behind episcopalians.
