I really do wish there was a moderate or a “middle of the road” party…I’m sure many like Amy Klobuchar, Adam Kinzinger, and Liz Chaney would join in a heartbeat!
Liz Cheney? The same Liz Cheney who recently recanted her opposition to homosexual pseudogamy and transgenderism - and will soon turn "pro-choice" as well. I'd rather she joined the Demoncrats, and would certainly never vote for her.
I don't think it's something we need to worry about. She has no chance of gaining the GOP nomination for president. I give her odds at surviving a primary challenge for her congressional seat at no better than 50/50.
My observation of "moderates" is they end up arguing that Pol Pot should have only killed 750,000, not 1,500,000. Or that we should fight a forever-war only in Afghanistan, not Afghanistan and Iraq. Or that gay marriage is not a hill to die on, but transgenders should not be able to participate in foster care programs. Until transgenders start participating in foster care programs; then moderates say well, as long as they're professing Christians.
IOW, "moderates," "middle of the roads" are pretty much useless. They're what the liberals were 5 years ago, perpetually. They conserve nothing, accomplish nothing, and when the big turning points in history come, they're just looking to hang on to their creature comforts.
Lukewarm--neither hot nor cold they are. St. John the Divine said such people made him throw up.
Actually it was Jesus that St, John the Devine was quoting. Those were not his words.
US politics are truly bizarre - only in the USA could Sanders or AOC be considered hardcore leftists. The Democratic Party is at best centrist everywhere else in the world, if not right wing...
Jon, AOC and Bernie are most definitely hard left. Sanders spent his honeymoon in the Soviet Union and was an avowed Marxist for much of his early life. Even today, he and AOC, are avowed socialists. Both are opposed to free enterprise and favor nationalization of most businesses and the gradual abolition of most private property. Sanders in particular, has long been an open admirer of the Castros and Cuba's Communist dictatorship as well the late Hugo Chavez and his regime. Both have repeatedly declined to criticize these authoritarian regimes.
