As the author notes, the genesis of the problem was the GOA's mindset of a diaspora Church vs. a missionary Church. (The American hierarchy's attempt to actually be a missionary Church was, of course, squashed). Americans will not, and should not, learn Attic Greek in order to worship God. So Greeks inevitably out-marry and spouses and children decline to attend a Greek social club. So the GOA attempts to remedy the problem, and goes at it from precisely the wrong end due to their ethnic narcissism.
