Ecumenical Patriarch Of Constantinople Bartholomew I Hoping For Unification Of Ukrainian Orthodox Churches

Ecumenical Patriarch Of Constantinople Bartholomew I hopes for unification of Ukrainian Orthodox Churches, he said at the meeting with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in his residence in Istanbul, Turkey.

At the same time, he said the Ecumenical Patriarch is ready to assist in that.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, during his visit to Ukraine in 2008, Ecumenical Patriarch, Archbishop of the Constantinople Orthodox Church Bartholomew I will continue promoting unification of Ukrainian Orthodoxy.

Bartholomew I highly appraised the results of his official visit to Ukraine July 25-27 on the occasion of the 1020th anniversary of converting Kyiv Rus into Christianity, and assured the Constantinople Patriarchy would further foster unification of Ukrainian Orthodoxy.

The Ukrainian Ambassador conveyed Bartholomew President Viktor Yuschenko's personal massage and presented video of festive celebrations on the occasion of the 1020th anniversary of converting Kyiv Rus into Christianity.

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Aleksiy II and Bartholomew I agreed to cooperate in creating the Ukrainian Unified Orthodox Church.

Ecumenical Patriarch, Archbishop of the Constantinople Orthodox Church Bartholomew I is interested in unification of all Ukrainian Orthodox churches into the Ukrainian Unified Local Church.

Yuschenko considers the visit of Bartholomew I to Ukraine a historical event.

Yuschenko believes in proclamation of the Ukrainian Unified Local Church.

Please check your source. Victor yuschenko is no longer President of Ukraine. Victor Yaunkovich has been president of Ukraine for about 2(?) years.
