Quote of the day...

The man is a good-hearted moron, and I mean that in a completely non-malicious way. He is a sentimental, gushing, huggy-bear and would make a great parish priest, but is in well over his head as Patriarch of an autocephalous Church.

"Blithering idiot" seems a much more apropos description.

Ann Barnhardt has a less flattering opinion on His Holiness.

Do NOT make the mistake of thinking that stupid people are incapable of malignancy. Oh, that’s lethal. I know we have been culturally conditioned to believe that lower intelligence BY DEFINITION means purity of heart and intention. This is false. Stupid people can be every bit as malignant as smart people, and conversely, smart people can be good. That regression analysis would have a very low R-squared, indeed.

I called Pope Francis an idiot on this blog about a year and a half ago and was rather rudely told off by some of the other commenters... I like that everyone now sees it. Makes me feel vindicated.

I wouldn't say everyone sees it. Mark Shea at least is still defending him. So he's got that going for him.
