Quote of the day...

The reign of tears is over.  The slums will soon be only a memory.  We will turn our prisons into factories and our jails into storehouses and corncribs.  Men will walk upright now, women will smile and children will laugh.  Hell will forever be for rent.
-Evangelist Billy Sunday before a crowd of 10,000 at a revival in Norfolk Virginia January 16, 1920.  That night at one minute past midnight the Eighteenth Amendment took effect.

"The slums will soon be only a memory."

Not as long as people possess free will, which the Calvinist Rev. Sunday apparently denied.

"We will turn our prisons into factories and our jails into storehouses and corncribs."

All too sinisterly true. The jails have become the new plantation system. Major corporations (e.g., Dell Corporation) have fired their free staff so they can hire prison labor.

"Men will walk upright now, women will smile and children will laugh."

TSA, anyone?

"Hell will forever be for rent."

Indeed - with the plutocratic oligarchy as the landlords, collecting rent with interest!

I hope Billy Sunday is happy to see the Utopia his ideals have wrought!

Dogs and cats, living together!

False prophecies and Revival evangelists are the dynamic duos of protestantism.
